Exam practice
Make your next timed mock count
Use a mock to practise your process, then use the review to choose what to revise.
Check the instructions before you begin
Read the paper’s timing, question choices, and permitted materials. Follow the instructions for that particular paper. Set up a quiet space and put away any resources the exercise does not allow.
Plan your time
Look at the available marks and question structure. Decide when to move on if a question is taking too long, and leave time to check your responses. Use the mock to notice where your pacing needs work.
Show the reasoning
Write the steps that lead to your answer and include the units when needed. For written responses, connect your point to an explanation and an appropriate example. Read the command word carefully.
Review by topic, not only by total
After the mock, separate knowledge gaps from misread questions and timing problems. Pick two or three actions for your next sessions. Treat automated feedback as a study aid and ask a teacher about uncertain marking.
